“Happy is he who looks only into his work to know if it will succeed, never into the times or the public opinion; and who writes from the love of imparting certain thoughts and not from the necessity of sale—who writes always to the unknown friend.”

About the author

The Texan Writer was launched in the spring of 2026 by four professors in North Texas. By publishing some of the strong writing being produced at their university, specifically in the Department of English and Languages, they hope to encourage and reward their university’s student body. They are currently seeking submissions for upcoming issues, the deadlines for The Texan Writer being March 31st for the spring issue and October 31st for the fall.
