“The first person you should think of pleasing, in writing a book, is yourself. If you can amuse yourself for the length of time it takes to write a book, the publishers and the readers can and will follow.”

About the author

The Texan Writer was launched in the spring of 2026 by four professors in North Texas. By publishing some of the strong writing being produced at their university, specifically in the Department of English and Languages, they hope to encourage and reward their university’s student body. They are currently seeking submissions for upcoming issues, the deadlines for The Texan Writer being March 31st for the spring issue and October 31st for the fall.
